Neyman Jr.’s Brief History

Neymar da Silva Santos Junior, a professional soccer player from Brazil, was born 30 years ago. He began playing professionally at 17 and quickly gained popularity among fans. He played for Santos FC before moving to Barcelona alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez.

Despite achieving great success at Barcelona, he struggled to reach his full potential while playing in Messi’s shadow. He transferred to Paris Saint-Germain for €222m, becoming the most expensive player in the history of football. Neymar scored 100 goals in 144 appearances for PSG, bringing his overall career goal to 342.

Although Neymar is undoubtedly skilled in soccer, he has also succeeded in other areas. Neymar has actively promoted modern Brazilian pop music and has participated in semi-professional poker games.

Neymar and Poker

Neymar became a brand ambassador for PokerStars in May 2015, joined by fellow Brazilian football legend Ronaldo. Neymar stated that his love of competition, developed through playing football daily, extends to playing poker against teammates and friends when he’s not on the pitch.

Neymar has been active in the world of poker, organizing charity home games with a famous poker website, one of which was won by Steve O’Dwyer during EPT Barcelona. He also participated in the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) in 2020, finishing 12th in Event 18-H: $2,100 NLHE [6-Max, Turbo, Progressive KO].

Neymar has announced his return to a popular poker website where he plans to demonstrate his playing style and charisma online and with live audiences. The 31-year-old football star was excited about starting a new phase with the well-known poker platform. He promised to create unforgettable moments for the global poker community and his fans.

Neymar at the World Series of Poker

Although Neymar hasn’t won a World Series of Poker bracelet, he has visited Las Vegas and shown his support for his friend Felipe “Mojave” Ramos at the WSOP in 2015. Additionally, Neymar participated in two WSOP events in 2022, including Event #26: $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship, and was nearly kicked out of another event before ultimately finishing in the money in Event #41: $1,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold’em.

Later, he narrowly avoided being disqualified from another event. Despite the close call, Neymar finished the money for this event. Neymar, the famous football player from Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil, made his first appearance in person at the World Series of Poker.

The tournaments were held at the Paris Las Vegas Casino. This event could be the beginning of a career in professional poker for Neymar, who is already a successful football player. Neymar won a preliminary PokerStars tournament in Vegas in June 2016, earning him a WSOP seat. However, he couldn’t join the main event the following month due to his involvement with Brazil at the Summer Olympic Games.

Finally, six years later, he participated in the WSOP event as one of the 74 entrants on the first day of the three-day competition and appeared to have a good time at the table. Neymar, who has won numerous football awards, such as the 2014-15 Champions League with Barca and nine titles across three different leagues, was competing in the WSOP tournament. He was hoping to win the coveted WSOP winner’s bracelet.

However, he was eliminated before the end of Day 1. According to on-site reports, Neymar played a wide range of starting hands, which can lead to risky situations with chips.

EPT Paris Mystery Stint

Also a well-known poker enthusiast, Neymar has succeeded by placing in events such as the EPT Monte Carlo and the BSOP in Brazil. Most recently, he earned a ranking within the top 50 players in the $700 Super Bounty tournament at the 2022 World Series of Poker.

However, it should be noted that most of these results were achieved during the summer when the Paris Saint-Germain superstar was on vacation, away from the club. This was not the case on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, as Neymar participated in the €10,200 Mystery Bounty event at the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile, which was convenient as he didn’t have to travel far to play some poker.

The Hyatt Regency hosted EPT Paris from Feb. 15 – 26, 2023. The place is less than four miles north of Parc de Princes stadium, where PSG, including Neymar, played a game hosted by a prominent poker website on February 14. Neymar lost the game but had better luck at the poker tables, where he found a bag at the end of Day 1. He was spotted at a local McDonald’s before retiring for the night.

While Neymar’s reputation at the poker table may be mercurial, one thing is sure: he understands the importance of strategy and unpredictability. His bold approach to the game reckons winning probabilities and minimizes risk on a personal level, ensuring that he can maximize his winnings in any hand. His popularity within the community continues to grow as more people learn of his prodigious skills at high-stakes games. This latest run will spark new interest in his talent and solidify him as a top name in professional poker play. With more successes like this one under his belt, Neymar will soon have the fortune, skill, and impact to rival some of the greatest champions in the sport. In many ways, it has already begun.
